Setley -24th October

So on a slightly overcast afternoon, 8 DF65 ventured to Setley to find so decent conditions. Breeze was relatively light with some nice little gusts straight up the pond meaning a nice triangle sausage course.

With starts becoming more and more controlled and competitive it was key to get off the line well to give you the best chances on the first beat. Dan McCarthy and Toby Collyer seemed to start well and get the jump on the fleet closely followed by Jon Harvey, Paul Davis and Team Willis. Stan Cockeram showed signs of glory until he got to the windward mark where the distance and judging the laylines caught him out. Richard Russell gave everyone a two race advantage after arriving late, took a race or two to get back into the swing of things and show he still had it and flying the flag for the standard sails gang!

But in the end the ever consistent, Jon Harvey came out on top by one point over Paul Davis after his late charge, then to round of the top 3 was the Senior of Team Willis, Keith Willis. Full results bellow.

Big thank you to our Race Officer, Meriel McCarthy, once again keeping us all in check and run nice swift races.

Next week is the Championship week, with prizes to be won. The venue will be back at the Salt Water Baths, meeting from 1:30 with a prompt 2 o’clock start. Then scores on the doors and prizes will be in the club afterwards.

See you all then!
